Frequently Asked Questions
WHERE ARE THE ROCKS COLLECTED?
Although there are many places to gather rocks, it is essential to avoid national parks and protected areas. Most of the rocks are gathered along the shores of rivers, streams, and lakes in Ontario, Canada. |
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PAINT A ROCK?
The time required to paint each rock varies depending on the size of the rock and the subject. |
WHAT KIND OF PAINT IS USED?
Acrylic colors: water-based, odorless and non-toxic. |
ARE PAINTED ROCKS WATER RESISTANT? HOW CAN I CLEAN THEM?
Painted rocks are water resistant; it is advisable to remove any dust by using a soft damped cloth. |
CAN I KEEP MY PAINTED ROCK IN THE GARDEN?
Sheltered under a canopy would be better. No varnish could ever protect from the fury of the elements: the long rain, snow, moisture and direct sunlight can cause fading or spoil the artwork. |
ARE THE ROCKS PAINTED ON ALL SIDES?
Yes, the rocks are painted on all sides then signed and protected with a satin finish. |
ARE THE ROCKS POLISHED OR ARTIFICIALLY MODIFIED?
No, the rocks are not treated in any way. Every hole or defect is respected and I try to enhance any imperfection through design. |
DO YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT THE ROCK WILL BECOME WHEN YOU COLLECTED IT?
Yes, in most cases. Other times I choose a rock for its intriguing form and decide only later what it will turn out to be. |
CAN I PUT A PAINTED ROCK IN AN AQUARIUM?
No, exposure to water may cause fading or spoil the artwork. |
